How Does It Work

The Hemp and Herbal products we have on this site work with your bodies own Endocannabinoid System (ECS).

The ECS is a biological system composed of endocannabinoids, which are endogenous lipid-based retrograde neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors, and cannabinoid receptor proteins that are expressed throughout the mammalian central nervous system (including the brain) and peripheral nervous system.

There are several ways to get involved but first you need to understand how the ECS works, and to accomplish this we do several things.

Lets talk about this

You've been hearing about CBD or Hemp, Whats the Deal?

  • What do I ask

The Science

There is an intricate group of receptors within the body called the endocannabinoid system (ECS). This complex network impacts many areas of health and is most abundant in the brain and immune system. Studies have shown the ECS to be responsible for important functions such as sleep, relaxation, inflammatory responses, and cognitive ability. The ECS is normally fueled by the healthy production of endocannabinoids. The challenge arises when endocannabinoid production becomes impaired or slowed. The good news is that nature has gifted us with a solution. Phytocannabinoids innately occur in the hemp plant and can serve as a replacement for the endocannabinoids your body may be lacking.

How does it work

The ECS is made up of three components: cannabinoid receptors, endocannabinoids, and metabolic enzymes. These components are found throughout the body, including the brain, tissues, and organs. The ECS is a signaling network that uses endocannabinoids to control processes in the body. Endocannabinoids (endo meaning within) are specialized compounds that are synthesized, or created, in the body as needed.

When outside homeostasis, the body produces endocannabinoids to reclaim its balance. Endocannabinoids then send information to the cells that gives the cells a specific direction that will result in a return to homeostasis. When unbalanced, the body produces endocannabinoids to send a specific message to the cell. The two major endocannabinoids are anandamide and 2-AG. Endocannabinoids work as messengers to send information through the receptor and into the cell. To do so, they bind to and activate cannabinoid receptors.

Cannabinoid receptors observe the conditions outside the cell and send the information inside the cell. If conditions outside the cell change, the cannabinoid receptors notify the cell which prompts a cellular response. When an endocannabinoid binds to the receptor, the receptor relays the message to the cell. Cannabinoid receptors act as a telephone of sorts, sending a message across the cellular membrane.

So Many Choices?

With the explosion of the CBD/Hemp market new products, new formulations, new strengths come into the market. I will touch on the different "categories" of products produced from Industrial Hemp.

Lets start with Water Soluble (WS), That means many things and give varying results, some WS is taken sublingually, this gets into your blood stream faster bypassing the first pass metabollic rate and going directly into your bloodstream. Some WS say to mix with a drink, this means it is processed through the liver, and intestines which takes longer to become available in your bloodstream, and less is absorbed.

Another and the largest segment (Currently) are tintures, raw oil, and edibles, I am lumping these all together because they get processed the same way through the liver, and intestines, and being an oils lowers the absorption rates to below 6%, oil and water just dont mix, and the oils are broken down by the liver and through out your body are water membranes that dont absorb oils well and as a result most of the product is passed from the body.

You will also see much larger mg sizes in different products, this is a direct relationship to their absorption rates. For comparison, Ultracell, as 500mg Water Soluble and a 500mg Tinture for a 30 day supply. So of the 500mg you have taken your body absorps and uses 85%+ of the active ingredient, 425 mg+.
On a standard tinture lets go high end, 6% absorption, thats 30mg and less of the active ingredient, meaning just to get the same amount of active ingredient you have take 15.25 times more of the product and thats why you are seeing these mega dose sized tintures in the market place now.

What do I ask?

Be Educated, expect answers, do your own research.
A pain management DR from indiana, that is using Ultracell™ with his patients, said it best, MAP, that stands for Milligrams, Absorption Rate and Purity of the base product.

How many milligrams of full spectrum hemp oil/CBD does the product have, and how much of that am I am going to absorb that making it bioavailible to you. 3rd, A huge amount of hemp is required to extract a small amount of product, raising the risk of contaminants because hemp, a bioaccumulator, draws toxins from the soil. So its important to know how the hemp was grown.

Another big question is how much do I take?

All Products will give a recommended daily does BUT, everyone will have different needs and different components of the product will help with different issues. Remember in a full spectrum hemp oil you have over 400 active components that work together, and some components work for different needs.

So start low and go slow, start with a lower dose, if you dont get the results you are hoping for increase it, if the purpose you are taking it is achieved with that does try and cut it back some and see if you get the same results, a recommended daily does is just that, only you can find the dosing you need. 80% of people that have tried a 7 day challenge of Ultracell™ have seen results within those 7 days, some have seen results the 1st day.

There have also been people that have gotten subtle results that they didnt notice till they stopped taking a product, so dont just take it onces and say, nope didnt work for me. My husbad is an example of subtle results, the main thing he noticed was he slepts much better, but people around him at work noticed differences, not as tense, his boss, not knowing he was taking ultracell said "What ever you are putting in his food, keep doing it".

My husband did stop taking it and the next day started to notice the ache in his knees and back was there, and started taking it again.

So what else should I ask?

Do you have a certificate of analysis?

Do you have tests on your product for absorption and bioavailability, not just general tests on CBD/Hemp?

Ask about the science?

What has it done for you personnally?

What is the source of the CBD/Hemp used in your product?

What makes your product different from the others?

"Trick Question" What results should I expect? Actually no one can tell you what results you are going to get. Everyone is going to respond differently, its going to depend on what your body needs.

This is an individual journey, Some results are subtle, Some results are cumlitive, and most importantly if you are doing this to come off of pharmacuticals, work with your DR and follow their instructions to step down, you may have to be persistant though.

Mitch McConnell Aims To Attach Hemp Legalization To Farm Bill

McConnell's current standalone hemp bill, which he introduced this month, would remove non-psychoactive cannabis varieties known as hemp from the Controlled Substances Act's definition of marijuana. The GOP leader has often talked about the economic boost that hemp could bring to rural communities in his home state of Kentucky. "Who knows how big it could be. Tobacco was awfully big. I don't know whether it could be that big or not. But there won't be an argument about whether it's not good for you," he said in a new interview with WKDZ radio. "Hemp could end up in your car's dashboard. It could end up in your food It could end up in your medicine. It has many diverse potential uses, and we're optimistic it could be very significant for Kentucky agriculture." But that can only really happen, McConnell says, if hemp is legalized. "First we have to make it legal," he said, "and that's what we intend to do in this year's Farm Bill." The Farm Bill, brought up in Congress every few years, sets food and agriculture policy for the country. McConnell wants to use this year's version as a vehicle for hemp reform.

Oklahoma Governor Signs Industrial Hemp Legislation

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma governor has signed into law a measure allowing universities and farmers who work them to grow industrial hemp. The Tulsa World reports that Gov. Mary Fallin signed the bill Monday to establish the Oklahoma Industrial Hemp Agricultural Pilot Program. The program will be overseen by the state's Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. Fallin's office says the law allows universities and farmers who contract with them to grow the crop "for research and development." The National Conference of State Legislatures says 37 other states have also passed legislation to allow hemp cultivation. Hemp can be used in food, fuel, rope and body products. Former President Barack Obama signed the federal Agriculture Act in 2014 to allow universities and state agriculture departments to cultivate the plant for limited purposes.
